H-Car Peugeot Concept Car

H-Car Peugeot Concept Car

While car manufactures are trying hard to incorporate solar energy generators in their electric vehicles, car designers are ready with next-gen designs where electric cars won’t rely on solar energy, but will harvest wind energy, which is a far more dependable source of renewable energy, especially if you’re using a fast car to do so.
Thomas Pastor is trying this new technology in a concept vehicle he calls the H Car.
Powered by hydrogen fuel cells and electric batteries, this zero-emission car seems inspired by flying saucers and merges sustainability, sports car capabilities and luxury in a single package.
The car’s wheels double as renewable energy generators, capturing the wind around the wheel, which is in abundance if the car is being driven at a decent speed. The on-board wind turbines help juice up the batteries to extend its range.

Baja 1000 Buggy Concept Car

Baja 1000 Buggy Concept Car

The car will use a radical new wheel and tire technology. The in-wheel electric brushless motors are inspired by Francis Turbines that let in surrounding air to cool the motors that might get hot during the course of the race.
Designed by Dong Tran, a Vietnamese-American design student in Detroit, the Baja 1000 Buggy has been designed for a green race on Mexico’s Baja California Peninsula. The off-road vehicle will come with an ecofriendly electric engine, solar chargers and of course some weird looks too.
The car comes with a primary hydrogen fuel cell power source, which gets complemented by a battery charged by solar cells that are infused in the body of the car. The solar cells provide continuous energy, while the racer concentrates on the track. The use of hydrogen fuel cells mean that the only thing coming out of the exhaust would be clean water that would be recycled to help hydrate the driver during the grueling race.
The weird looks of the car are due to its unique wheel and tire design, which feature airless tires that are infused with LED lights to warn spectators during a nighttime race event.
The unique wheel design makes us believe that the ride would not be as comfortable as one would want during the course of a long race. The tires are like the blades of a saw, which we think would make the ride bumpy.

Volage Venturi 2 Seat 4WD Electric Sports Car Concept

Volage
Venturi 2 Seat 4WD Electric Sports Car Concept

Venturi Volage concept is a two-seat sports car with four-wheel drive powered with electric motor that introduced at the 2008 Paris Motor Show, developed as the result of a partnership between Venturi and tire manufacturers Michelin.
Volage is indeed a head-turner with plenty of unbelievable features such as Michelin Active Wheel Technology that empowers each wheel with a significant amount of additional control over the vehicle.

Under the flowing, aerodynamic carbon fibre bodywork of the Venturi Volage, which was styled by Sacha Lakic, lies an aluminium and composite material chassis which is both light and strong. Weight is an important consideration in designing electric powered vehicles as the batteries themselves are quite heavy. The batteries used in the Volage are Lithium-Polymer (li-po) units which weigh 350 kgs (772 lbs) in total. These batteries can be recharged over 1,500 times, and can be 80% recharged in just four hours using an external recharge booster, using the vehicles built-in charger it takes 8 hours.

An even distribution of the Venturi Volage's weight - 45% at the front, 55% at the rear, and an overall weight of 1,075 kilos ( 2370 lbs) enables it to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in less than 5 seconds.
Inside each wheel of the Venturi Volage are two electric motors. One provides drive, the other is used for suspension in a system called "Michelin Active Wheel". This active electric shock absorber system allows for total adaptation to the type of road surface and driving.

Inside the two-seat Venturi Volage is a touch screen dashboard which can be configured to suit the drivers favored layout. From this interface the driver can also configure the vehicle to suit his or her needs. For example, they can decide to give priority to range rather than power, or comfort rather than speed.

2012 Ampera Opel Electric Concept Car

2012 Ampera Opel Electric Concept Car
The Opel Ampera electric car promises 500km (~300 miles) reach. For trips up to 60 km, the five-door, four-seat hatchback runs on electricity stored in the 16 kWh, lithium-ion battery, and emits zero CO2. When the battery’s energy is depleted, electricity from an on-board engine-generator extends the Ampera’s range to more than 500 km The Ampera looks cooler than the Chevy Volt, but then again the Volt looked also amazing as a concept and was then toned down quite a bit.
The five-door, four-seat Ampera uses a design language which incorporates several styling cues from the Flextreme and GTC Concept show cars.
The Ampera’s wheels are turned electrically at all times and speeds. The Ampera can be plugged into any household 230v outlet for charging. GM Europe is analyzing the requirements of a recharging infrastructure for plug-in electric cars with energy companies, including Iberdrola of Spain.
GM plans to put the Ampera into production in late 2011, offering it also with right-hand drive in the UK by Opel’s sister-brand, Vauxhall.
The revolutionary Opel Ampera will be the first emission-free, electrically driven automobile in Europe suitable for everyday driving.
"Driving electrically is not only about ecology," said global vehicle line executive and chief engineer, Frank Weber. "Driving electrically is also great fun. Instantaneous, silent torque of 370 Newton meters under your right foot feels like flying!"
The Ampera’s exterior design takes up cues from the Opel Flextreme and GTC Concept show cars. For example, it features dramatic, boomerang-like headlights that seamlessly integrate with the lower fog lights.
Opel Ampera ConceptThe car has a dynamic, almost aggressive low stance seen most prominently in the front and tail. The new, bold Opel logo emblazes the front grill and the chrome bar across the back.
Vertical slots in the outboard edges of the rear bumper not only give the car a low sporty look but also play a key role in creating a clean separation feature for the air, supporting the highly efficient aerodynamic performance.
GM engineers and designers worked together to optimize the air flow around the front fascia and outside mirrors of the Ampera. Significant attention was also given to the rear with a specifically designed spoiler and clean separation features.

Lightweight materials were added in the form of clear polycarbonate covers to the front grille and disk inserts on the 17-inch, five-spoke sport alloy wheels. These helped to reduce aerodynamic drag in critical airflow areas.
The interior features a Jet Black interior combined with Spice Red accents and Dark Argent Metallic paint on the instrument panel’s center stack for a sporty look. The doors’ décor picks up on the car’s electric nature through the use of iconic themes.
With an integrated shifter, two information displays and touch-sensitive infotainment center, the Ampera delivers an all-electrical user experience. The storage capacity is 301 liters.
“On the Ampera we’ve continued to challenge the norm and have searched for new and exciting color and material combinations. To support the car’s innovative character we’ve worked with experimental trims and paints that you will see more of in future Opel models” said John Puskar, Director, Interior Design for GM Europe.
Opel estimates that an electrically driven kilometer in the Opel Ampera will cost about one-fifth compared to a conventional gasoline vehicle, at current fuel prices.

Peugeot Delta Hydrogen Fuel Cell Concept Car

Embryo Clean Fuels Concept Car
Embryo Concept Car is powered by fuel cells which uses clean fuels like hydrogen. It is completely ecological as it is made of recyclable aluminum and silicon materials used mostly for interior elements. Design wise, it looks like an organism, however safety wise too, it derives the same thought. Soft material is used for exterior while inside it has a protective layer to absorb the impact and keep the passengers safe. The safety system also acts as a communicating system for information like speed, distance etc. and if necessary auto pilot also reacts to avoid possible accidents. With all these safety and design features it surely is a winner in robotic era.

Calamaro Audi Concept Flying Car

Calamaro Audi Concept Flying Car
In response to Porsche Hungary’s design competition Tibor has come up with a ‘flying’ concept car obviously intended for the very distant future. The designer tells us that the shape was inspired by the skeleton of a cuttlefish which gives is a look halfway between a sports car and a speed boat. Some existing Audi styling cues can be seen such as the huge air intake which approximates the shape of the radiator grill on modern Audi automobiles.

The Calamaro is supposed to run on ‘clean fuels’ but its not clear how since the air intake isn’t connected to anything and there seems to be no visible means of propulsion — or flight — or anything else! Having said that it does look pretty sensational.

HB HUMMER V6 Biodiesel Concept Car

HB
HUMMER V6 Biodiesel Concept Car

This Hummer HB concept car looks better than most of the vehicles actually coming out of Hummer’s stables. The Hummer HB concept is the latest creation of Romanian designer Andrus Ciprian.

HB HUMMER V6 Biodiesel Concept Car
Hummer HB Concept Car is an extreme off-road vehicle with almost no front or rear overhangs, and massive wheels and tires for tackling almost any surface.
The concept is an attempt to shrink the footprint of the Hummer a little more than has already been done. Built as a green extreme off-roader (the car is intended to be powered by a V6 engine which will run on biodiesel), the HB features a body-on-frame format with aluminum and carbon fiber being used as the main materials for the construction. As with any Hummer, the wheels stand out thanks to their impressive size.

HB HUMMER V6 Biodiesel Concept Car
The power of the unit is handled by a six speed automatic transmission.
Similar to the current range of Hummer models, the HB looks like a tank on wheels thanks to an intimidating, muscular outer shell constructed from aluminium and carbon fibre materials.

HB HUMMER V6 Biodiesel Concept Car
For optimum safety and security levels, Ciprian has given the underside of his Hummer armoured panelling that protects the passengers and powertrain from any potential damage while off-road driving.

HB HUMMER V6 Biodiesel Concept Car
And there’s a second version of the HB that comes with an array of cameras placed around the exterior in order “relay video to screens around the driver”. It almost sounds like the HB would be better deployed in war zones than on the roads of your city …
